Quality Welding restored several balconies for Harkness Memorial State Park, which included repair work and fabrication. The scope of the project included three steel balconies on the carriage house.

First, we removed the railings and steel scroll support brackets, and sand blasted the components to determine what was salvageable. We then welded the salvaged railing and new pipe rail to the top side of a new deck frame, and welded new scroll support brackets to the bottom side of the deck frame. We fabricated all the new components: support brackets, deck frames, and single-line pipe rails.

The new scroll brackets consisted of 1½-inch by ¾-of an inch flat bar. The balcony deck frames featured a 3-inch by 2-inch by ¼-of an inch outer frame, with a 3-inch by ¼-inch interior support made from flat bar. All flat bars were made of A-36 steel, and all components received a galvanized, "Duncan-Colorgaly" black finish.
